Renewable Energy Centre
University of Las Tunas – Cuba
Promoting access to “green” energy for rural populations.
In 2016, the Cuomo Foundation initiated a discussion at the University of Las Tunas with the director of the Centre for Energy Efficiency Studies and Technological Processes (CEEPROT). The talks were directed around the creation of a Research & Development facility in the field of renewable energy sources.

The principle objective of the initiative is to increase the use of renewable sources of energy in the region by training the local population and providing technical assistance through the University.
It took several years of negotiations with local authorities to reach an agreement in 2018 and in 2019, the first order for technical equipment was completed.
With this new partnership, the Foundation is expanding its network of academic experts in the fight against climate change by promoting access to “green” energy for rural populations.
