Actions in the Principality and globally

Always remaining in close contact and communication with both its partners and beneficiaries, the Cuomo Foundation has been even more attentive during this confinement and current global health crisis.

IN MONACO

A partner of the Monaco Red Cross since 2001, the Foundation has supported its recent preventative health actions by an exceptional donation of $100,000. This financial aid will support the purchase and distribution of PPE (personal protective equipment) to health personal.

IN SENEGAL

The Cuomo Centre for Paediatric Cardiology in Dakar was built and funded by the Foundation and is a medical centre of excellence unrivalled in West Africa. By late March, it had already prepared itself to be able to treat any suspected Covid-19 patients. By readjusting operational procedures the CCPC was able to support the hospitals in Dakar with provision of 10 additional appropriately equipped hospital beds.

IN BURKINA FASO

The Foundation has allocated immediate funding and financial support to the Zeine Collective to enable the drilling of new wells. This new access to safe water is especially critical during the current health crisis where washing hands is vital to stopping the spread of the virus. The foundation has supported the Zeine Collective in Burkina Faso since 2010.

IN INDIA

Working in collaboration with the Diocese of Chingleput, operational partner for our schools in Tamil Nadu state, we launched a food aid relief project to distribute essential provisions to the most impoverished and needy families. These measures focussed on three of the rural communities where we have school compounds- Mambakkam, Sendivakkam and Kovalam. This time, the initiative went beyond the school environment and identified and supported the most vulnerable in the wider communities.

IN ITALY

With sponsorship support from the Foundation, the National Academy of Dance in Rome held its annual International dance day as a virtual performance streamed live over 24hrs through social network platforms. The event was held on April 29th and contained various performances, talks and videos and archival footage from the AND Library. The successful programme explored the importance and necessity of culture in our lives and how to explore and present that richness in new interpretations during times of crisis.
