On November 27th 2019, the Associazione Fryderyk Chopin organized a gala concert at the Cloister of San Giovanni Battista de’ Genovesi in Rome (15th century) in memory of the 10th anniversary of the passing of Alfredo Cuomo.
The event featured the internationally renowned artists Marcella Crudeli (piano) and Stefano Maffizzoni (flute), playing music by Mozart, Debussy, Chopin and Franck. Both musicians have performed in many of the most important theatres and auditoriums around the world as soloist and with famous orchestras while cooperating with several international radio and TV broadcasters as well as recording companies.
The afternoon has been enriched by a literary program too, with the reading of some passages from the novel “Il bel tempo di Tripoli” by Angelo Angelastro, journalist of RAI-TG1. The passages were read by the famous actor Ruben Rigillo.
Alfredo Cuomo has been instrumental in supporting the “Roma” International Piano Competition from as early as 2004.
During her speech, Marcella Crudeli remembered the profile of Alfredo Cuomo, as patron of precious humanitarian and cultural projects. He has been instrumental in supporting the “Roma” International Piano Competition from as early as 2004. The Cuomo Foundation remains the main sponsor of the piano competition. This initiative connects perfectly some of the main goals of the Cuomo Foundation and the Associazione Chopin, aiding young musicians to grow up through culture and help developing their careers.
