Through its partnership with Thuyloi University in Hanoi, Vietnam, the Cuomo Foundation supports the 2nd Conference on Water Security and Climate Change (WSCC), due in Cologne next September.
By providing “a stimulating environment with the intention to yield innovative ideas and grounds for implementation”, the conference aspires to serve as a platform for discussions towards water secure societies.
At this international conference which “aims to build a bridge between disciplines, sectors and different groups of stakeholders”, Professor Nguyen Mai Dang will represent the Vietnamese University specialising in Water Resource Management.
By providing “a stimulating environment with the intention to yield innovative ideas and grounds for implementation”, the conference aspires to serve as a platform for discussions towards water secure societies. With a team of Asian experts, Professor Dang will present there an assessment of the Red River Basin—a water resource of prime importance, also known as the “Original River”, irrigating a vast region covering Vietnam, China and Laos.
This new step further reinforces the partnership in place since January 2016 between the Foundation and the Vietnamese University. This collaboration has already seen the commissioning of a new teaching center in Hanoi. This support for the international summit also demonstrates the Foundation’s growing commitment to the field of climate change, undertaken with other stakeholders such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Climate (IPCC) and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (FPA2).
Other partnerships focusing on these same issues are under discussion in Cuba and in India.
