In January 2015, Mrs Maria Elena Cuomo and senior members of the Foundation met in the Monaco headquarters to finalise the plans of the proposed new Building for the Amala Annai Hr Sec School, Mambakkam.
The architect Mr Maria Alphonse Sagayadoss (Perpetual Builders) of Chennai was also present.
Members of the Foundation formally signed the agreement of construction in the presence of the Bishop Neethinathan of Chingleput and Mr Alphonso Sagayados.The meeting was held in May in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
For this construction project, about 70% of the unskilled laborers have been employed from the local area. Bricks and aggregates built locally have also been utilized in the construction.
The first stone was laid on July 7 and construction is due for completion in 2017.
