“El Vedado, Tradición y modernidad en la arquitectura habanera“, a book co-edited by the Havana Historian’s Office and the Cuomo Foundation has just been published in the Cuban Capital.
Written in Spanish by the architect Madeleine Menéndez, the publication of this book is part of the broader framework of the safeguarding of the architectural heritage of the island. This state-sponsored cultural policy is spearheaded by Eusebio Leal, the Historian of the Capital.
This scientific project, which took several years of work and research, aims to help a wider audience discover one of the less-known districts of the city, which has just celebrated its 500th anniversary. Through a hundred or so buildings scrupulously listed, this book, illustrated with photographs taken by Nestor Martí, remains a privileged access to this historical district from another era.
