No Finish Line Awards 2019 took place at the Stars’N’Bars on 21st September

The charities award ceremony for last year’s NO FINISH LINE MONACO 2019 took place at the Stars N Bars establishment on 21st September. Originally planned for earlier in the year, the event had been postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Each year the Cuomo Foundation awards its ‘Solidarity & Performance’ prize, a tribute to its founder Alfredo Cuomo, to a particular team in recognition of their tremendous effort for the No Finish Line event.

This year the Foundation gave the award to the Monegasque Red Cross Team who were presented with a number of special editions of the recently published book, EL VEDADO, TRADICIÓN Y MODERNIDAD EN LA ARQUITECTURA HABANERA. This unique publication is a Cuban historical heritage project and was co-produced by the Office of the Historian of Havana City—OHCH and the Cuomo Foundation.

Written by the Cuban architect Madeline Menendez and with pictorial images by Cuban photographer Nestor Marti. The book’s publication is part of the continuing preservation and valorisation of Cuba’s architectural heritage. The old city of Havana and its system of fortifications were officially recognised as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1982 and were cited for its “interesting mixture of Baroque and Neoclassical monuments“, as well as “a homogeneous set of houses with arcades, balconies, wrought iron gates and interior courtyards“.
