The WHO reports that over 25,000 children in Senegal are in need of cardiology care and without appropriate treatment 80% have little chance of survival.

The pediatric cardiology centre CCPC will open in early 2017 in Dakar and represents the first of its kind in that area. It will provide life-saving and corrective pediatric cardio surgery and care for the entire sub-Saharan region.

Local Senegalese doctors are currently enrolled in a special programme of study, taking place at the Professor Alain Carpentier Heart Institute in Vietnam. They will then be qualified to carry out over 350 corrective procedures annually at the new treatment centre and reduce the traumatic and costly medical transfer of young patients abroad.

A partnership agreement between the government of Senegal, CHNU Fann, the Cuomo Foundation and La Chaîne de L’espoir.

Sanctioning this special programme was officially signed on June 15th, 2015 in Dakar.
